Put over 30 years of hard work and superior scientific breeding to work for you and your herd. Our program has been established using a philosophy of a single sire breeding crossed with does with proven, deep pedigrees. Every fawn born on our farm will have a documented, reliable, genetic background with several generations of 250”+ genetics. We have been very fortunate, and sometimes lucky, throughout the years. However, for the most part, our success is due to following a very solid genetic plan over a long period of time.
Where we will be able to take genetics into the future is simply unimaginable. We have already accomplished things that we never thought possible not long ago. Every year we set new standards and every year our deer only continue to improve. One thing we do know is that the world-class whitetails that we will be producing in the future will not come by happenstance. They will be a product of continuing what we have done over the last 30 years.

Though you can undoubtedly find a less expensive deer hunt, we doubt you will ever find a better trophy deer hunt nor a better hunting experience than you will at Wilderness Whitetails.
Ever since 1999 when we first began hunting operations here, Wilderness Whitetails has had limited availability for new hunters because 90% or more of our hunters come back year after year.
As is often said:
“The bitter taste of poor quality lingers long after the sweet taste of a low price is forgotten.”
To be honest, we are not the least expensive trophy deer hunting outfitter. We are just the best... offering the largest, best looking typical and non-typical trophy Whitetails in North America as well as a truly magnificent hunting experience.

Terms and Conditions:
All hunts are one on one guided. The guide will determine the classification of all bucks for the hunter.
Your personal hunt with us is booked for a particular week in the season and will include lodging, meals, guide service, and transportation to and from Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA). No license is required.
Advanced reservations with a $1,000 non-refundable deposit ($3,000 for Silver & Gold Hunts) are required to confirm your booking on all hunts. Balance is to be paid by money order, cashiers check, or cash upon completion of the hunt.
This is not a guaranteed hunt. Hunters have gone home unsuccessful. However, if the hunt is unsuccessful, the hunter pays nothing more than the initial deposit for the hunt. A draw blood policy is effect and fees are due for wounded animals.
Non-hunting guests are welcome at no additional charge. Hunting seasons runs from September through December. Rifle, bow and muzzleloader hunters are welcome. 5.5% Sales Tax included with the price of the hunt.

Greg and Shorty Flees have built a deer hunting dynasty in the Northern hardwoods and rolling swamp country of Central Wisconsin over the past 15 years.What began as the Flees Family Whitetail Genetics business in 1977 when their Mother, Carol, found an orphaned fawn, transitioned to a trophy hunting business in 1999 when Greg and Shorty, working purely with their own Wisconsin genetics program, began seeing the results of their meticulous and time consuming selective breeding program. Shorty and Greg’s first 200-inch buck developed on the ranch in 1989 when bucks of that size were unheard of. The Flees genetics pool today is so strong and so deep that the occurrence of 200-inch bucks on their property is as common today as 160-inch bucks were years ago.
The Flees brothers first began offering hunts on their heavily wooded property in 1999. Since, the quality of Wilderness Whitetails bucks has gotten better and better with each passing year.
Wilderness Whitetails hunters have taken six different bucks that broke the non-typical record mark for all regions of the country in years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011, including a 444” buck in 2010 and monstrous 492” in 2011.
The big bucks of Wilderness Whitetails continue to amaze! A huge 472” non-typical buck was taken at Wilderness Whitetails in August 2013. Two lucky hunters scored magnificent typical bucks in 2013 as well. The potential new SCI #1 Typical…an impressive, symmetrical buck scoring 252-5/8” was taken early in the 2013. Another Wilderness hunter took home a “hunter’s dream buck”…an 8-pont typical scoring 195” gross -- netting 189”...the holy grail of Whitetails. Our commitment to our hunters at Wilderness Whitetails is to provide an unrivaled trophy whitetail hunting experience from the moment each hunter enters camp. Wilderness Whitetails boasts the Biggest, most beautiful deer on the planet. From the lodge to the field, and everything in between, we are dedicated to ensuring our hunters take part in what can only be described as “The Wilderness Whitetails Experience”. Before heading north to hunt with us, we do recommend the following checklist to ensure you’re properly prepared to handle the most exciting Giant Whitetail hunting offered anywhere.
We are in central Wisconsin, and no matter what time of the year you hunt with us, expect that cold weather may roll through and be prepared to hunt in it!
Bow Hunters
Clothing (LAYERS!)
- Scent-Free base layer
- Scent-Free fleece layer
- Scent-Free Outerwear Camo with facemask, head stocking and hat.
- Scent-Free Bow Hunting Gloves and hand warmers
- We highly recommend gear designed for bow hunting. Gear that is not only scent free, but silent as you move to get in position for a shot. This is critical!
- Insulated Rubber Boots with wool socks and liners
Equipment
- Compound bows with a draw weight of at least 50 lbs is recommended.
- Practice arrows and field tips for practice sessions between hunts
- Broadheads – we love Rage products, but know placement is more important than anything!
- Leave the rattling horns, grunt calls, estrus, etc. at home. Our guides spend all year in these woods and will have whatever is needed to make your hunt a success. Our deer are so much larger than anywhere else, you really need antlers from our property to be successful if attempting to rattle.
Firearm Hunters
- Clothing – same strategy as our bow hunters, with the exception that scent-free isn’t required but be prepared for cold weather and layer up!
- Equipment – our deer average well over 300 lbs with an occasional buck tipping the scales at over 400 lbs! We recommend a .270 or better but also realize shot placement is key. We have women and youth hunters regularly take deer with .243’s, but prefer to have some wiggle room with a larger caliber when possible. Extra ammunition – don’t come with just a few shells…bring a box, as you never know what can happen on a hunt!
In Between Hunts
In between hunts you will have all of the comforts of home in one our lodges, complete with Wi-Fi, Satellite TV, meals, snack, drinks, open bar…everything you need! We recommend bringing:
- Comfortable clothes for lounging around the lodge in between hunts and in the evening
- A big appetite and pants that will allow for a few extra pounds to be put on!
- Jeans, Sweatshirt and a Jacket for the option of heading out to one of the famous restaurants/bars to experience the local Wisconsin culture!
Our guides will take professional pictures for you but you are always welcome to bring your own camera and phone to capture your memories in and out of the field!
Finally, if all else fails, we are 30 minutes away from a Gander Mountain that can get you back to be fully geared up should you need anything.

How many times have your heard the phrase... "the stuff legends are made of?"
Wilderness Whitetails has a number of legends. We don’t know just how many but they are legends just the same. We call them our Legendary Bucks. There are some old bucks, 7, 8, 9 years old that have only rarely been seen either on trail camera or by one of the guides who just get a quick look at them. They have been hunted and hunted hard since they were only three or four but they continue to elude our hunters. Some of these old bucks go nocturnal as soon as hunting season begins. Others intuitively know how to avoid hunters during daylight hours. Some hide out in the swamps on the property. Others are just plain lucky or smart.
Our deer were all born here on the property and know every square inch of it. They’re wild and smart. The Legendary Swamp Bucks normally live through the season, outsmarting our hunters and our guides yet again. Every once in a while one of them will make a mistake in the presence of a hunter....but not often. Some just die of old age. Hunters who request to hunt one of these incredible Legendary Bucks, often go home empty handed. Such is life! There are no guarantees that you will get the buck you want every time....specially when you set your sights on one of our crafty, old Legendary Bucks.
Once in a while one of our hunters scores on a Legendary buck, Such was the case in 2013 when our hunter Jack finally caught up with one of the Wilderness Whitetails Legendary swamp bucks. This impressive 211-4/8” SCI non-typical buck had been hunted hard for six years. Jack’s big buck was nine years old! Jack is either really lucky, or really good!
In mid-November, 2012, one of our hunters took this monster Legendary Buck, a 284 4/8” SCI with 29 scorable points. It was during the peak of the rut and the big buck was chasing a hot doe and he made a mistake. This massive buck was never seen by a hunter before he was taken. Any one of our hunters would have been overjoyed to have harvested this gorgeous deer.

Ben Carter, Executive Director of the Dallas Safari Club, is on location with Keith Warren’s “The High Road” TV crew, hunting huge Northern Whitetails at Wilderness Whitetails, DSC Exhibitor), in Central Wisconsin with legendary Brock Lesnar, world champion MMA fighter, on the Pursuit Channel Monday, July 14, 2 p.m., Wednesday July 16, 11 p.m. and Sunday, July 20, 7:30 p.m. (all times CDT).
Both Carter and Lesnar took huge 300-pound-plus main frame typical 8 point bucks scoring in the 200 inch category. Wilderness Whitetails is renown for having the best Whitetail genetics in the country plus the finest deer habitat imaginable from nearly impenetrable cedar swamps to broad stands of hardwoods. As co-owner Greg Flees points out, “Hunting big Whitetails in our dense Northern habitat is like hunting in no other place in the US.”
